Frequently Asked Questions

What are the boarding requirements?

We require a completed registration form and a signed pet agreement.

When can I drop off my pet?

We are flexible with timings, so please discuss with us.

Do you provide food and bedding?

We have Science Select guinea pig food, Timothy blend hay, bedding hay and wood shavings. Also paper bedding for rats. Other food and bedding needs to be provided by the owners. If using our food we would recommend a small amount of their regular food so we can wean them between diets.

Do you provide treats and enrichment?

Yes, absolutely. Treats are based on your animal's dietary requirements, and we will adhere to any instructions you have. We aim to keep your pets entertained and enriched, so they are kept stimulated and healthy.

Can I get updates on my pets?

Yes, we can send you updates every day if you wish.

What happens if my pet is sick?

We will provide any immediate first aid, and then discuss with you the next steps. In emergencies we will take them straight to a vet. The form you complete asks your wishes on costs you will cover, but we will ask you pay the vet bill. We will of course make every effort to contact you before any treatment.

How often do you check up on my pet?

The lodge is next to our house. We feed the animals as often as required, and they are checked at least 3 times a day. Usually this is more, to play and enrich the pets, and update their owners. If the weather is particularly hot or cold we will be checking regularly that the temperature in their housing is safe and comfortable.

Can I visit Furhaven before I decide to leave my pet?

Yes, we can normally arrange this. Or a video tour if you prefer.

When do I pay? And what is your cancellation policy?

We ask for payment on the day of drop off. We like as much notice as possible, but we do not charge for cancellation.
